The newsletter says: Ten years is an incredible achievement and Mark, the Trustees and myself (Ellie) would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all who have contributed over the years, and to you, the churches who have supported and encouraged us. Special mention must be made of Catherine Turnbull-Ross, who was instrumental in getting ATCC off the ground and her faithfulness and dedication are in large part, responsible for the success we have had. Thanks also to the many Trustees who have helped steer us over the years, and of course to Mark Knight, who has led the Chaplaincy since the beginning. Here's to the next ten years!
Thank you Guildford, friends & supporters, after being shortlisted, you only voted Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy (which includes Street Angels and Community Angels) the winner of prestigious Experience Guildford Service Provider award! Big thank you to those who voted & all those who put on such a splendid evening.
ROC Angels supports the Mayor of London's Women's Night Safety Charter.
We believe every woman has the right to feel safe when travelling, working or going out at night. That’s why we’ve signed up to the seven pledges in the Mayor of London’s Women’s Night Safety Charter. As a night-time organisation, there are things we can do to help make London and every place our teams serve safer for women at night. For us, that means things like showing others and the communities we serve that we take women’s night safety seriously. It means training our volunteers to deal with any issues that women tell us about in a sensitive manner. And it means encouraging everyone to report incidents, whether it happens to them or to someone else. Together, we can make London and every place our teams work a city / place where all women feel confident, welcome, and safe – whatever the time is. Click here for more information. A new app to assist Leeds Festival goers if they lose their phone is in place for this year’s festival which takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Liff Happens is working in partnership with Festival Angels, who run the Lost Property tent, to encourage people to register their phone before they arrive on the festival site. Jo Lynch, the coordinator of Festival Angels Lost Property explains, "By registering a phone and giving details of a friend, who is also at the festival, means that if your phone is lost and finds its way to our Lost Property tent we can easily reunite phone and owner." Each year hundreds of items are found on the festival site and handed to Lost Property. Festival Angel volunteers manage to reunite around 60% of the items at the festival and in the weeks following. Festival goers are encouraged to register via leedsfestivalangels.org.uk/lost and Festival Angels volunteers will also be encouraging festival goers to scan a QR code. The 170 strong team of Festival Angels volunteers, will be on hand throughout the event, helping people navigate the site, put up tents and stay safe, and, over the course of the long weekend, will serve at least 50,000 hot drinks through a £7 unlimited refills mug deal.
